Warning light shows driver door open when the door is really closed. The dome light will stay on and the doors will not lock while in gear. This will drain the battery and is a safety issue since door will not lock.

Because the estimate for diagnostics and replacement (quoted by ford dealership) of a faulty switch in the door is approximately $525.00, there are social media suggestions on how to disable the switch (cutting a wire, etc.). You can be driving and the door ajar light will come on which turns the interior lights on making driving at night very difficult due to the unexpected lighting that reduces visibility greatly at an instance.
