On july 31, 2017 in my 2014 ford edge i slowed down to turn right into a parking space at an elementary school, and all of a sudden the car took flight over the curb and sped into the woods. I had been driving (traveling nurse) back and forth 3 x weekly to a nursing job. The low tire light. I aired the tire for several days until i could carry it to a tire shop. I was told it was the rim. The rim was repaired. Six months later the low tire light comes on again. I carry it to the ford dealership and the rim is cracked again. Went to dealer for oil change / tire rotation - also to check loss of air in right rear tire - serviceman pulled a nail and fixed tire - but said there was a crack on the wheel ( 22 inch powdered aluminum) and should b replaced - cr used for very light driving only has 23,000 miles since 2014. *tr

I was driving on barnsville road in dickerson maryland. I felt that my car dropped down and heard a scrapping sound and the car veered to the right on to a field. I got out and found the aluminum wheel on the grass with the tire off the wheel . When the tow truck came i saw that the core of the wheel had totally sheared off from the exterior of the wheel. Turning right out of parking lot touched curb plastic wheel covering just rippled like a coke can crushed. Had to replace whole wheel. Should either be able to replace plastic part by itself or do not use plastic covering. Ridiculous for what we paid for the car. Cost $1,100 to fit a piece of plastic on a new car.
